Mary Wallis is a contemporary lighting designer at the forefront
of combining innovative technology with excellence in craftsmanship. Her lighting and site-specific installations have been featured in numerous publications and are held in collections around the world.
Born in Australia, Mary has studied the arts and design since childhood. At age five she began 18 years of study with Master Chinese painting teacher Richard Liddicut. Upon graduation Mary relocated to New York where her career in design flourished. She studied design at Parsons, the New School for Design, and the Pratt Institute. In 2012 she founded her eponymous studio.
Her work has been featured in publications such as Elle Decor, The
New York Times, AD Magazine, Wallpaper* Magazine and Vogue.
The Financial Times described her as “embodying what much of
contemporary New York lighting design is about”. Installation
and exhibition highlights include Bergdorf Goodman, the
International Contemporary Furniture Fair, the Salon of Art and
Design, Wallpaper* Handmade, and Venice Design to coincide with the Biennale.
